Phil is eagerly awaiting his next Arrival, another G1000 due later this month Australian Wings Academy (AWA) is a professional pilot training academy specialising in flight training for airline cadets and self sponsored commercial pilots. The AWA Diploma of Aviation course includes the CASA Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) and a Command Instrument Rating – Multi Engine (CIR-ME). The Diploma syllabus is specifically tailored to getting international students “airline ready” for the right-hand seat of a commercial multi-crew transport aircraft Australian Wings Academy is currently located on the Gold Coast, at Coolangatta International Airport. Students are provided with a mixture of controlled and non controlled airspace, and great flying weather all year round. AWA has a purpose built training facility which includes class rooms, briefing rooms, flight planning room, specialist simulator room, student lounge and administration facilities, making it the most modern pilot training facility in Australia. AWA also has a state of the art simulator, new teaching equipment, a full time ground school facility, and a Chief Flying Instructor with a background in training international students. The AWA fleet comprises Cessna 172’s (a mixture of R models and Garmin 1000 equipped S models) and Diamond DA40 TDI aircraft. The average age of the fleet is less than 4 years.
